Mission

Our mission is to provide compassionate and specialized care for children with medical
and disability needs, enabling them to thrive physically and socially. We are dedicated to
supporting parents by providing a safe, nurturing environment where the health and
happiness of each child are our top priorities.

Vision

Gunnar’s Place, a Pediatric Day Health Center, provides a nurturing environment for
children with medical and disability needs. We ensure children receive essential care
during the day, allowing parents to maintain their work schedules and regain a sense of
normalcy. As a vital link between hospitals and homes, we deliver quality care while
accommodating the needs of families.

Why we exist

Gunnar’s Place was born from love, loss, and the unshakable belief that every child
deserves a full, beautiful childhood.

When I cared for Gunnar each day, I watched a little boy with a bright spirit and a brave
heart experience a world that wasn’t built for him. He had medical needs that kept him
safe — but those same needs kept him separated from the simple joys other children
take for granted. He didn’t get to sit in a circle of friends. He didn’t get to hear another
child call his name. He didn’t get to be part of the everyday magic that shapes who we
become.

And yet, he deserved all of it.

Every child does.
The day I realized that Gunnar’s world was smaller not because of who he was, but
because of what didn’t exist for him, something inside me shifted.

No child should grow
up without belonging. No parent should have to choose between safety and childhood.

No family should feel alone in navigating medical needs.

Gunnar’s Place was created to change that.
We exist so children with medical and disability needs can grow up with their peers —
not apart from them. So siblings can stay together. So healthy children can learn
empathy, compassion, and the beauty of differences. So families can breathe easier
knowing their child is safe, supported, and truly seen.

Our “why” is simple and powerful: Every child deserves a place where they are
included, celebrated, and given the chance to experience the fullness of
childhood.

Gunnar didn’t get that chance. But because of him, countless children will.
His story is our heartbeat. His legacy is our purpose. And every child who walks through
our doors is the reason we continue this mission with love, intention, and unwavering
hope.
